Sony has U-turned on plans not to offer PS5 upgrades for users who purchase the PS4 standard edition of Horizon Forbidden West. Earlier this week, the platform holdersaid it would not be offering new-gen upgradesto those who purchased the standard PS4 game, and that users would need to instead buy the more expensive $80 Digital Deluxe Edition to obtain both versions of the sequel. However, on SaturdaySony Interactive EntertainmentCEOJim Ryanannounced a U-turn on the plans, and confirmed that PS4 Forbidden West players would be able to upgrade theirgames to PS5 for free....

Sony president and PlayStation chairman Hiroki Totoki has said Bungie could be better at assuming responsibility for its development timelines. Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida has said Square Enix wants to release the game for Xbox. Stalker 2 is coming to PlayStation 5 later this year, developer GSC Game World has announced. No specific release date has been announced for thePlayStation 5version of the popular hardcore shooter. Steam has launched Steam Families, its new solution for sharing games between groups of players. ASteamFamily can consist of 5 members and will allow members to purchase a title once, giving every member of the Steam Family access to that game. Developers can choose whether or not to support this feature. If a game currently supports the Steam Family Sharing system that was previously in place, it will automatically support Steam Families....

Surgent Studios has announced its next game, Dead Take. Four more titles have been added to the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis library on Nintendo Switch Online. The newest additions, as seen in the trailer below, are Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, Crusader of Centy, Landstalker and The Revenge of Shinobi, bringing the total number of Mega Drive / Genesis games in the service to 44. Nintendo has announced that five more games have been added to the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis collection on Nintendo Switch Online. These include cult favourites ToeJam & Earl and Dynamite Headdy, as well as Altered Beast, one of the first free games bundled with the console during its launch period. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has claimed that the publisher didn’t shut down Private Division studios Roll7 and Intercept Games, despite reports suggesting it planned to. Tencent and Ubisoft founders the Guillemot family are reportedly considering teaming up to take the company private, after it lost more than half its market value this year. According toBloombergsources, the Chinese conglomerate – which already owns around 10% ofUbisoft– and Guillemot Brothers Ltd have been speaking with advisers to explore ways to stabilize Ubisoft. One of the possibilities discussed would involve teaming up to take Ubisoft private, it’s claimed, though talks are said to be at an early stage, and there’s no certainty they will lead to action....
