The game took the top spot on the global sales chart ahead of fellow new entryMonster Hunter Rise, which released two days earlier, according toSteamDB. The total is higher than Sony’s other big first-party PC releaseHorizon Zero Dawn, which peaked at 56,557 in 2020, whileDays Gonemanaged 27,450 following its release last year....

Polyphony Digital has released a significant Gran Turismo 7 patch which rebalances the in-game economy following severe criticism from players. Two weeks ago, Polyphony bossKazunori Yamauchiapologised to fans for recent issues with the game, includinga lengthy server outageand a lack of transparency overchanges to its in-game currency system, and promised to alleviate them with a major update in early April, which has now arrived. He said update1.11(see the full patch notes below) would increase rewards for events in the latter half of the World Circuit by approximately 100% on average....

IO Interactive has discussed the challenges of remaining independent and the temptation to accept acquisition offers following its split from former parent company Square Enix. In June 2017, IO negotiated a management buyout (MBO) withSquare Enixthat made it an independent studio, in a deal that also saw it keep all of the rights to the Hitman IP. Indie developer Team Reptile has delayed the release of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk for a second time. Originally scheduled to arrive in 2021before being pushed to 2022, thePCand console game is now targeting a summer 2023 release. “We are convinced that releasing the game this year will not take it to a level where we would be personally satisfied with,” the studiosaidon Wednesday. “To create a fulfilling and unique game we are extending the development time of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk to summer 2023....

Microsoft has revealed July’s 2023’s Xbox Live Games with Gold titles. When the Past was Around (normally $8.49/ £7.09) will then be available as a free download from July 16 to August 15. Darkwood is billed as “a challenging survival horror that does not rely on jump scares”. When the Past was Around “is an adventure point-and-click puzzle game about love, moving on, letting go, and the joy and pain of everything in between”....

Level-5 looks set to announce two new games during a product showcase on Tuesday. The ‘Level-5 Vision 2024: To the World’s Children’ live stream will feature new game reveals, plus updates on a handful of previously announced titles. The event, which will be viewable via the YouTube embed below, will start on September 24 at 5am PT / 8am ET / 1pm BST. Promotional materials for the broadcast reference new “titles” to be announced, with questions marks displayed over two mystery products in accompanying imagery....

It’s been nearly a decade since the last new Mafia game, but ask certain series devotees and they’ll tell you it’s really been 15 years. Mafia 3, which was released in 2016, told an interesting story but its shift to more open-world, district-based gameplay didn’t sit well with fans of the first two games and their more concentrated storylines. Microsoft expects Xbox Series X/S supply shortages to continue until the second calendar quarter of 2021. Xbox Series X/Spre-orders went live in September and initial stock was quickly snapped up, leaving many fans unable to secure one of the new consoles for launch on November 10. Retailers are expected to sporadically offer limited numbers of Xbox Series X/S consoles for sale as and when they receive new stock, but availability is likely to be few and far between for the foreseeable future....
